Summer!

Well I've been on summer break for over a week and I'm exhausted already! Staci and I have traveled from Stu to Anchorage where we spent four days staying with Vince and Danielle and overall really enjoying the city! Plus we were able to get a ton of stuff done!! It was a riot! We walked, we hung out, we went out overall a great time!

So the first couple of pics are from Anchorage and then a couple from Seattle where we've been since Thursday! Staci is leaving today which is a bummer but I'm here through Sunday so there's plenty more! We've gone to the Pike Place Market, the Art Museum, Madame K's, gotten a TON of coffee, and we've walked or ridden the bus everywhere! The weather has been fabulous but more importantly we've had a ton of fun! Plus Kara and Ryan were able to hang out with us most of the weekend since it was Memorial Day! I realize the more I travel the luckier I am to have great friends whereever I go! So enjoy the pics...I really need to get better at taking more!! Oh well, it's summer! Ok pics are working so I'll try again later!!

Last Day with Kids

Wow! It's over...another school year come and gone! I can't believe it! There were times we never thought it would end and now here we are...the kids are great and I'll miss them tons! But that's that for this year! I'll put up some pics from field day but have no fear another adventure starts on Monday as I head to Anchorage, then to Seattle...and on down the list! Wish me luck it could be a very long summer!

Busy busy!

Wow! So last weekend we started the weekend off with Graduation on Friday afternoon followed by Prom Friday night! The gym looked amazing the kids did a great job! All of the senior boys got choked up when they were talking....it was the sweetest thing! I can also say as a staff we looked pretty good with everyone dressed up!! So we took some pics!! Enjoy! The next set of pictures are of the kids before the Friday assembly, working in my room and other stuff!! Enjoy!

Awesome!

So these are totally pictures of my niece playing softball! She actually hit this one out of the park which is AWESOME!!! And have no fear you'll be seeing a TON of pics of here this summer as she's traveling with me! Wild, aye?!

On to bigger and better things..today is clean up day in the village! The snow is gone so there is trash everywhere! After lunch the kids will be going out and picking up! It should be a great community effort and I'm excited to see it...but we'll see if I actually help as I'm not held responsible for a classroom. But who knows! I love taking pictures of the kids so I just might go out and check it out! We'll have to find out!

Well so...that seems to be it! The year is winding down, we have graduation tomorrow and then next week is full of assemblies and so forth and then we're done! I'm still trying to double check my summer plans but we'll figure it out when I get there!

Enjoy the pics!

Break Up

So last night the river broke up...which in Alaska is referred to as "break up". In doing that it officially signaled the end to winter....we hope! The good news is that most of the animals haven't realized it yet as there were 3 moose on the mini island who were trying to get to the other side...but they were stuck due to break up. What can I say we're easily entertained!!

And on to the rest of the day...so my morning is now a bit crazy as we lost power this morning...and when it came back on...the fire alarm went off. What a morning! So the kids are excited adding to the excitement over break up and we've got a day!

So I'm over half way packed and am in the process of trying to take everything up to the post office...but when I tried to do that yesterday the post office was too full and couldn't take our stuff. So hopefully we have better luck today!

Wish me luck this week!!!

What a week

Ok so can I just say how disappointed I am in the IRS?? I sent my taxes in a gazillion years ago (ok end of March) and still don't have anything! Plus the rebate checks are supposed to be out this week...I haven't seen mine yet which just makes me worry more! But seriously I want that money!! Ok I'm over it...well kind of...but at least I can pretend!

So this week has been absolutely insane! Between the "trying to pack" and all the chaos in the world it's been crazy! The weekend was great and I actually got a ton of stuff done but man...Monday I'm at Danielle's watching "How I Met Your Mother" and she mentions there were tornadoes in VA!! Ok so one touched down at my favorite Target!! So I spent Monday night and Tuesday trying to get a hold of people! But thank goodness everyone is fine and doing well! There's just a mess to clean up in some places. (Ok so that's not true for EVERYONE but at least it is for everyone I know.)

And then the rest of Tuesday happened where I borrowed a drill and now it won't work anymore, my DVD player wouldn't play DVDs last night and neither would my Dell. So I picked up a book and went to bed...oh well life goes on!

Ok so there is a tradition of taking bets as to when Break Up will occur...in Anchorage this ends up being like a $100000 award (or higher...I forget). And by the way my new bet is June 1st at the rate it's going!!

So I should go get something done now!! I'll add pictures again eventually...13 school days left (including today!)

Seafood

What can I say this week has been crazy busy! Friday was definitely weird because it's the weekend of Russian Orthodox Easter so we only had like 20 kids in grades K-12 because the rest were in church in the morning. I'm not even sure we're going to have any on Monday but we'll see. (Last night they started church at 11 pm and go until like 6 am so the village is pretty quiet right now!)

And have I mentioned that it's light until almost 11:30 pm?? Talk about crazy! So I'm trying to get some good sleep because of having my schedule off but due to the light you forget to look at the time and then you're like crap it can't be that late! But such is life in Alaska! (Plus sunrise is like 6 am which is just as crazy!) Oh well...gotta luv spring!

Speaking of Spring we had a couple of beautiful days last week where it was mid to high 40s and then just when you think it's going to really start to melt and thaw out...it snowed again! But not like it did in Anchorage! It's been crazy weather around there! Oh well, life goes on...ya gotta luv that it's been interesting!

I think that's about it for the last week. I keep saying I'm going to start packing but I was waiting for an address to send it all too...well I have that now...so now we'll work on the whole packing thing. It shouldn't take long as I don't have NEARLY as much as I did last year!

As for the pictures I'm adding...the one is me eating King Crab last week when we were in Anchorage...such good stuff!! I loved it!! It was fabulous!! Have I mentioned how much I love Seafood??? Like to the point I may go home and take some salmon out of the freezer and have that for dinner later....hmmmm..that's an idea...oh well we'll see. The others are just pictures of Anchorage on one of the days we were there! It was beautiful and a great time!
